National Road 48 Will Start Construction by November 2021

Phnom Penh: Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol has announced that National Road 48 will be upgraded. The $78 million reform will receive finance by the Republic of Korea and will double to four the amount of lanes on the road. He added that the road can’t be upgraded during the rainy season, so the construction is scheduled to start on 1 November and be completed by early July 2024.

National Road Number 48 has 150 kilometers connecting Sre Ambel district to Koh Kong provincial town. Four bridges over the road will also receive grants from Thailand, to facilitate people’s travels to the neighboring country.

Sun Chantol stated that National Road 48 is a busy road and an important economic gateway. The project is expected to improve the safety of drivers, reduce travel time and transportation costs, improve road safety and increase economic development in the region, especially with Thailand.
